Wednesday September 26 with SETH GLIER
This event is being held in conjunction with events nationwide under the VOICES UNITED banner. Songwriter Catie Curtis and producer John Jennings are producing these events in conjunction with Americans United for Separation of Church and State to celebrate- and defend- the vital principle of church-state separation. Entertainers in all 50 states will participate in concerts to bring people together to raise the visibility of church-state separation and rally Americans to support this constitutional principle. Songwriter Seth Glier has been tapped to be the performer at the Wisconsin event here at the Carpe. The 22 year old singer, pianist, and guitarist- who abandoned studies at Berklee College of Music because he “decided I should be playing for people and not for grades”- has quickly established himself on the national scene. A few people have something to say about Seth:
Seth’s voice and piano chops have such vivacity…he has an incredible ability to construct arresting melodies-” Culture Mob
“…breathtakingly beautiful, immersed in fragile introspection and an intimacy that penetrates every niche and nuance.” -M Music and Musicians Magazine
Friday September 28 at the Cafe Carpe and Saturday September 29 at the Hoard Museum- BILL CAMPLIN with RANDY SABIEN! and SATCHEL PAIGE!
The three musketeers barnstorm Fort Atkinson. Great vocals and master musicianship and witty repartee will be served up by these swashbucklers.
If you buy a ticket to the Saturday museum event, you can hear them Friday night at the Carpe for free- without Saturday tickets price is $15.
The Saturday September 29 event is a benefit for our wonderful museum, the Hoard Museum, the Fort Food Pantry, and local citizen group Heart of the City. Note that it is not at the Carpe- but at the museum at 401 Whitewater Avenue, with complimentary wine and appetizers beginning at 6pm, and the concert starting at 7.
This will be the fourth year for this event featuring virtuoso violinist Randy Sabien, with local talents Bill Camplin and Satchel Paige Welch (disclosure- they have substantial ties to the Cafe Carpe), as well as an opening set by Tim Southwick Johnson playing his songs based on Aldo Leopold’s A Sand County Almanac.
Tickets are $35 each, and are available at the Museum and the Cafe Carpe. Wine, appetizers, and desserts are included in the ticket price.
This is co-sponsored by Jones Dairy Farm, the Cafe Carpe, and several anonymous donors. Volunteers Pat Belt and Maria Perez-Hametta, as well as museum director Kori Oberle and museum volunteers do an incredible amount of work organizing this event.
Next Thursday October 4 THE PINES– contact us for tickets- these guys are getting pop-u–lar.
Find out more about all of this on our website because it is too frustrating to try to keep these fonts from being unruly which may make me unruly and cause me to spill unpleasant words onto the page. Lots of great things coming up- some have passed through before some new- worth looking forward to see what I’m talking about.
