THE LION OR THE LAMB?

Doesn’t mean anything, really, just a reference to the beginning of March, which is just around the corner, also referred to as tomorrow.

Thursday February 28, also referred to as today, at 7:30 we have another debut by exciting young genre-bending musicians. Sisters Ari and Mia Friedman on cello and violin are joined by Owen Marshall on guitar. “Unruly Heart is a thoroughly enjoyable recording that marks another young group venturing off into eclectic acoustic material…Like their slightly older contemporaries, Crooked Still, Ari and Mia mix cello with Appalachian-folk-influenced music with clawhammer banjo, sometimes Gospel-like textures, and throw in jazz and even classical influence.” Please call to reserve.

On Friday March 1 there is an Open Stage beginning at 8pm. Kaia Fowler has indicated she will be on hand for that, and there will likely be others joining her.

Saturday March 2 features acoustic blues played by John Stano on guitar and harmonica, and a debut by world traveler Brett Newski. John was awarded first place at the Wisconsin Singer Songwriter Series Songwriting Competition finals, held in November of 2012. John was also a ‘Big Top Chautauqua Songwriter of the Year Finalist for 2010’ and he performed under the Big Top. Some of you heard him live last Sunday on Simply Folk and called to reserve on the strength of that performance.

In other words, plenty of good stuff worth sloshing through the slush for.

Check out on the right who is coming up- the wonderful and elusive Ray Bonneville next week!!!!!, and make reservations for the shows you’d like to see. Hope to see you ’round the homestead.
