Tuesday is past, but you can still elect to come on out this
Friday or Saturday APRIL 5 and 6 to hear SAM LLANAS and his fine band Ryan Schiedermayer, Sean Williamson and Matt Turner in our intimate space. Many of you may recognize Sam as the defining voice in the Bodeans, his former band. A fine singer and songwriter he is.
A fundraising campaign for the play “A Day for Grace” also starts on April 5th. Sam has composed the music and performs in the play, which is written & produced by Doug Vincent. Performances of “A Day for Grace” are planned for Milwaukee, Chicago and New York City. The 2013 run for “A Day for Grace” will be during September, which is Suicide Awareness month. “A Day for Grace” is the heartwarming true story of a family struggling with social taboos -from bullying and alcoholism to life after suicide.
Sam will appear on WTMJ4’s Morning Blend with Molly Fay to kick off the “Send Sammy to Broadway” fundraising campaign. Check it out.
NEXT WEEK:
Thursday APRIL 11 surely you remember that the 2nd Thursday of the month usually means that the NEW PIONEERS will be shining their bluegrass light on us.
Friday APRIL 12 features roots musician, ERNIE HENDRICKSON-
“Dark and pretty songs. Ernie Hendrickson is finding a niche in the indie folk Americana segment. He is a storyteller like Harry Nilsson in a country mood.” – Hans Werksman, Here Comes The Flood
“Whether exploring tribal beats or graceful homegrown country hymnals, E. Hendrickson stretches the song-writing pallet. He is drawing influences from Gram Parsons’ Burrito Brothers, straight through the heart of the America’s Blues tradition.” – Martin Halo, JamBase
Saturday APRIL 13 BILL CAMPLIN & THE TRISKAIDEKAPHILES WOOT! They rocked the place last time, the latest best in a series of best performances they’ve ever done.
On deck are Karen Savoca & Pete Heitzman, Karen Johnson, Piper Road, John Sieger with guitarist Greg Koch, Roxanne Neat, Jim & Vivien Craig with Fred Campeau & Mitch Thomas, and Cold Satellite. They could all have complementary complimentary adjectives in front of them but that would take time and effort, and I prefer things to be timeless and effortless.
