SAM KNUTSON is a singer-songwriter from Iowa City.  His most recent album is Donkey Island, and “it is chock full of songs that sound as if they were written to animate the air of that lively little listening room.”

In late July, the day of a massive storm in Fort, Sam gamely played parts of his last show in the basement after the tornado sirens went off but before the power went out, and in our front room under our emergency exit lights after the power went out.

From the Shepherd Express: “Sam Knutson’s 2022 release Donkey Island is a collection of observational folk songs. “Already Gone” recalls John Hartford’s breezy melancholy, while “Prayer for the Downtown” leans into the lineage of fellow Iowan Greg Brown.
