New England-raised, Minneapolis-based MOTHER BANJO makes her long-awaited return to Cafe Carpe after having a baby and releasing two new full-length albums. Called “an outstanding poet” (Inside Bluegrass), she was a Midwest Finalist for the prestigious NewSong Contest and has been featured nationally on SiriusXM Radio and CMT.com. Her latest album Eyes on the Sky artfully mixes her signature blend of folk, bluegrass and soulful Americana. Joining her on this tour will be her good friend and veteran St. Paul songwriter Martin Devaney.
Dubbed St. Paul’s Night Mayor, Martin Devaney has made a name for himself over the last 20 years as a prolific folk/Americana songwriter who has shared the stage with such artists as Billy Bragg, Charlie Parr and The Jayhawks. He is currently touring in support of Dispatch, the debut album from his new project FOLIOS, which mixes literary storytelling with lo-fi garage folk. Sure to be a fun night of thoughtful songwriting, engaging storytelling and surprising collaborations.
