KAREN JOHNSON grew up in West Allis, WI, surrounded by music.  One of her favorite memories  is  listening to old country tunes with her dad while riding along in his old pick-up truck.  At a young age, Karen learned to play the Tamburitza and sing harmony as a member of the American Croatian Silver Strings Tamburitzans. Now playing the guitar, she has been performing at various venues since 1998  but loves playing in the Carpe’s listening room.

Karen sings songs of her favorite artists including Joan Baez, Nanci Griffith,  Alison Krauss, and Suzy Bogguss, to name a few.
