DAVID ALAN RAMONT  was born with a song stuck in his head. The doctors couldn’t get it out. 20 years later he was playing clubs around the Chicago area, whether alone or with bandmates. He also taught at a music school, played in foul smelling theatre pits, did occasional session work and dug plenty of ditches. He made a record and relocated to the thriving Austin, TX music scene for a spell. Back in Illinois he made 3 more records and dug more ditches. Gigging expanded- Midwest, East, South. College/public radio played his songs.

He borrowed a banjo and co-founded swillbilly band dick smith. They made 3 records and found a hardcore little following. Their record “Smoke Damage” was one of Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s top 3 indy releases of 2002. Ramont produced records for 3 other singer/songwriters. Currently he’s playing (sometimes for sandwiches), writing songs and kicking stuff down the street…and still digging the occasional ditch.
