Three Thin Dimes is a five-member string band hailing from as far west as Cross Plains, and as far east as the Kettle Moraine. Since 2013 its members have assembled on a weekly basis at various local watering holes to play tunes and make merry. Guided by Lynn “Chirps” Smith‘s rock-solid fiddling and encyclopedic knowledge of the old-time repertoire of the American Midwest, and aided by fellow travelers Steve Tesmer (dobro), Ben Knowles (guitar, vocals), Allen Wilson (banjo), and Dominic Frinzi (bass), this band aims to set toes a-tapping. Expect a setlist that samples widely from various acoustic traditions, from Appalachian fiddle/banjo jams to Irish jigs and reels, from 70s-era newgrass to ragtime blues, and the occasional Hawaiian slide guitar interlude thrown in for good measure.
