TIM GRIMM and the FAMILY BAND

January 20, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

$12

TIM is a bit of a Renaissance man in the performing arts world. He has for the past 15 years, blended his love for songwriting, travel, and the storytelling of acting (theatre, film and television).

Tim returns to the Carpe with his musical family in tow–Connor Grimm on bass, Jackson Grimm on banjo, octave mando, guitar and vocals, and Jan Lucas-Grimm on harmonica and vocals.  They’ve just completed a 6 week run at The Indiana Repertory Theatre working on the Bicentennial production- FINDING HOME: Indiana at 200- for which they wrote and performed songs and the score. Their song WOODY’S LANDLORD was the #1 song on Folk radio in 2016, and threads the narrative of Woody Guthrie’s landlord (Fred Trump) and Tim’s relationship with debate-team mate- Mike Pence.

Tim has built a reputation as a storytelling songwriter of some note in the US and Europe, and his sons bring a blend of bluegrass. old-time, and rock and roll into the mix. It’s all shaken up but it’s still all about the song. It’s folk music in a time when we really need it. The Grimms have just
finished another recording to be released in March, entitled,  A STRANGER IN THIS TIME. This is the first project that they’ve done entirely as a family and includes several family co-writes. It pulls no punches as we find ourselves on the brink of a new America.

They head off to tour Europe for 3 months in early April. They are very happy to return to Cafe Carpe, and hope to see YOU there.  On inauguration night, no less.

Listen to Tim and the family here.
