CAITLIN CANTY

June 25, 2015 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

$10

CAITLIN CANTY makes her Carpe debut and you want to be there. PLEASE CALL TO RESERVE.

Caitlin Canty delivers her songs with a 1930’s Recording King guitar and a dusky alto, painting the line between joy and pathos with uncanny precision and power. Raised in small-town Vermont, the daughter of a school teacher and a house painter, she spent a decade in New York City as a performer and as the first employee of the successful Artists Den series. She released RECKLESS SKYLINE (January 2015) produced by acclaimed songwriter Jeffrey Foucault, featuring an all-star band on twelve songs that veer nimbly between country ballads and straight-up rockers, dark blues and sparsely arranged folk.

Both on the road and on her unreleased new album, Caitlin Canty teams with some of the finest musicians in the world – including members of Morphine, Booker T, Cold Satellite, and Ray LaMontagne’s Pariah Dogs – to create a sound that harnesses the grit and spark at the very heart of American music.

“The Vermont native with a casually devastating voice and unshakable poise is bound to be the next great Americana star” – San Francisco Chronicle

“Reckless Skyline manages to combine elements of folk, blues, country and rock without sounding unfocused” – AllMusic
“Hear a stirring, pedal steel-powered pep talk from a Vermont-born, Nashville-bound songwriter” – NPR Music

“A delight… Fine songwriting on an album of 12 really strong songs” – The Telegraph

“This is going to be a big year for Caitlin Canty. The Vermont-raised singer-songwriter has an Appalachian grit that informs her record, Reckless Skyline” – The Bluegrass Situation

“With her vintage guitar and rootsy rock style, Caitlin Canty makes a sound all her own on her dynamite new album Reckless Skyline” – Philadelphia Inquirer

“Tapping into blues, country, mountain ballads, and roots rock, Canty’s songs have an elemental sound – reflecting the influence of such songwriters as Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, Johnny Cash and Tom Petty.”
– Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, Acoustic Guitar

“As good as it gets” – PopDose

She will be appearing here with guitarist/ pedal steel player ERIC HEYWOOD, who has worked with artists such as Son Volt, Richard Buckner, the Jayhawks, Ray LaMontagne, Alejandro Escovedo, Freakwater, Calexico, the Pretenders, Kathleen Edwards and John Doe, along with teen-pop singer Mandy Moore and Latino fusion band Yerba Buena.
