SUMMARY:AARON NATHANS & MICHAEL RONSTADT/ TISH HINOJOSA
DESCRIPTION:Ticket link follows bios:\n\nCello-guitar songwriting duo AARON NATHANS & MICHAEL RONSTADT never lose their capacity to surprise. This progressive folk act combines uninhibited musical creativity and mastery with accessible story songs and an oddball sense of humor. Audiences will see and hear things done with a cello they never thought possible\, meandering stories as captivating as the music\, and hook-filled story songs that you’ll remember long after the lights come up. Guitarist/vocalist Nathans\, from the Philadelphia area\, is an award-winning leader in the Philly songwriting community. Cellist/vocalist Ronstadt\, nephew of Linda Ronstadt\, is a Cincinnati-based cello bandleader\, teacher\, touring artist\, and much in-demand studio sideman.\n\nAs an acoustic duo\, the two create a compelling musical palate. Ronstadt’s cello lines are reminiscent of the live-layered magic of Zoe Keating\, and his songwriting reflects the creative diversity of Paul Simon. He weaves intricate patterns around Nathans’ baritone voice\, studied folk meters and dash of irony in the tradition of David Wilcox and Dar Williams.\n\nSinger-Songwriter Leticia “TISH” HINOJOSAwas born on December 6\, 1955 in San Antonio\, Texas to Mexican immigrant parents. She is the youngest of thirteen siblings. Professing a longstanding interest in music\, Hinojosa began performing at an early age. She has released 16 albums between 1987 and 2024 in English and Spanish in a variety of musical genres such as blend of folk\, country\, Latino\, and pop. Hinojosa’s interest in cultural diversity is a recurrent theme in both her work and her personal life\, and is expressed not only through her award-winning cross-cultural musical productions but also in her volunteer work with several humanitarian organizations and causes.\n\nHinojosa  has an undeniable far-reaching appeal\, garnering her accolades such as a White House concert at the invitation of President and Mrs. Clinton and teaming up with artists such as Joan Baez\, Booker T. Jones\, Flaco Jimenez\, Pete Seeger\, and Dwight Yoakam.\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:TODD ALBRIGHT/ DIANA DARBY
DESCRIPTION:Todd and Diana will share the evening. Ticket link follows bios. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTODD ALBRIGHT is a country blues\, twelve-string guitar player and vocalist based in Detroit\, Michigan. Grounded in the pre-war era of the blues tradition (1880-1939)\, Todd is a mindful purveyor of blues history. His repertoire upholds musical pillars such as Blind Willie McTell\, George Carter\, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Leadbelly. His life’s work continues the distinguished tradition of the very roots of American music as told by the African American musicians who created it. Todd Albright joined Jack White’s Third Man Records in 2016. \nTodd’s vigorous\, gritty and soulful performances are accompanied by stories of the masters and a deep intuitive sense of respect for craft\, providing audiences with a meaningful experience while creating a transcendent moment. One of the top blues guitarists in the world\, Todd is the only contemporary twelve string player in his genre. \nTodd began playing the blues while still a teenager\, some twenty-five years ago. Initially\, he was drawn to the sound of the finger-picked style and has since immersed himself in the foundational music and narratives of American culture. Over the years\, Todd has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Cedric Burnside\, The Wood Brothers\, Corey Harris\, Charlie Parr\, Roy Book Binder\, and Paul Geremia. Todd has been featured in major publications such as Living Blues Magazine\, MOJO Magazine\, Premier Guitar Magazine\, American Blues Scene\, and mentioned on the cover of Acoustic Guitar Magazine. In 2019\, Todd produced a 12-string guitar instructional video with the famed Stefan Grossman Guitar Workshop. In addition\, Todd has filmed live sessions with Acoustic Guitar Magazine\, Fretboard Journal\, KEXP\, and Daytrotter/Paste Magazine. \nTodd’s first full-length LP\, Todd Albright\, was released by Lo & Behold! Records & Books in 2014 (Hamtramck\, MI). His second album\, Fourth Floor Visitor\, was released by Jett Plastic Recordings in Detroit\, Michigan (2017). In 2017\, Jack White’s Third Man Records released Todd’s critically acclaimed album\, Detroit Twelve String: Blues & Rags. Todd’s long awaited fourth album\, produced by legendary folk icon Charlie Parr\, is set for release on Misfortune Records in 2026. \nDIANA DARBY was born and raised in Houston\, Texas.  She spent her hot Texas summers walking along railroad tracks\, picking wild blackberries and listening to the made-up songs in her head.   She was a loner\, often sitting on the playground steps watching other children.  She learned to observe through the pain of isolation.  Her only salvation was her pen and paper. Her words were her oxygen. \nAnxious to leave her chaotic family behind\, Diana graduated from high school at sixteen and moved to Los Angeles to attend USC where she graduated with a B.A. in theatre and a minor in music.  She pursued acting\, briefly\, but auditioning only reinforced her feelings of invisibility.  She quickly realized the power of the pen and returned to USC to pursue an M.F.A. in writing and directing from the film school.  After graduation\, Diana applied to and was accepted into the Warner Bros. Writing Workshop. She was one of only two graduates of the program selected to be put on staff as a comedy writer at Warner Bros. \nWhen Diana’s position with Warner Bros. ended\, Diana packed up and moved to Nashville to pursue her love of poetry and song. She worked in Nashville as a lyricist\, writing songs with established writers who’d had cuts with Nanci Griffith\, John Prine and the Dixie Chicks.  After co-writing for a year\, Diana met Mark Linn (Delmore Recording Society) on a rainy Halloween night.  Mark was intrigued by the more primitive songs Diana was writing on her own.  After hearing her sing them\, Mark was anxious to get her into the studio.  The two flew to Brooklyn to record Diana’s first album\, “Naked Time\,” with Mark Spencer. The album was hailed as\, “conjuring visions of a wounded mind running amok in a flowing field of flowers” – CMJ; and was featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition.  A multi-city tour across the United States followed. \nSince that first album\, Diana has released four more albums: “Fantasia Ball”\, “The Magdalene Laundries”\, “I.V.” and “Diana Darby’s Last Words to The Planet.” She has toured Europe and the U.S. extensively\, been a guest on NPR programs\, “Here and Now” and “The State of Things”\, and on multiple tribute albums. Her rendition of “Jesus Was A Capricorn”\, for a Kris Kristofferson tribute album\, was singled out as a “revelation” in the SF Weekly\, and caught the ear of Italian label “Loveboat Records”\, who licensed her album\, “Fantasia Ball”\, for release in Italy and arranged a month-long performance tour. That tour led to more invitations to perform throughout Europe. Along with touring\, Diana has continued pursuing her poetry\, writing over fifteen hundred poems and publishing four chapbooks. Her love of language and rhythm\, and her willingness to be vulnerable on and off the page\, makes her a compelling artist with a voice worthy of being heard. \n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:JOE PUG
DESCRIPTION:JOE PUG is an American singer-songwriter from Greenbelt\, Maryland. He has released two EPs\, as well as the albums Messenger\, The Great Despiser\, Windfall\, The Flood in Color\, and The Diving Sun. \nWhile working as a carpenter in Chicago after dropping out of the University of North Carolina\, Pug wrote and recorded what would eventually become his debut EP\, Nation of Heat. Its literate lyrics received widespread acclaim and Pug’s unorthodox promotional strategy of distributing free CDs to anyone interested in sharing his music resulted in the EP selling over 20\,000 copies. After touring with Steve Earle in 2009\, Pug was signed by Nashville indie label Lightning Rod Records and released Messenger in 2010. After moving to Austin\, Pug released The Great Despiser in 2012. \nPug’s acclaimed narrative songwriting has led critics to draw comparisons between his work and that of John Prine and Bob Dylan. His stated influences include John Hiatt\, Warren Zevon\, and Beck\, as well as literary figures such as John Dos Passos\, John Steinbeck\, Raymond Carver and most notably\, Walt Whitman.

SUMMARY:RAY BONNEVILLE
DESCRIPTION:RAY BONNEVILLE  We love Ray\, and it’s a joy when he can play and not just take advantage of our cheap lodging as he passes through. \nA lot of heavy praise for Ray here.  Ticket link follows bio. \nAn acclaimed raconteur\, Ray strips his bluesy Americana down to its essentials and steeps it in the humid grooves of the South\, creating a compelling poetry of hard living and deep feeling.  \nJim Withers (Montreal Gazette) describes his sound as “folk-roots gumbo… a languid Mississippi Delta groove\, seasoned with smooth\, weathered vocals and a propulsive harmonica wheeze.” Whether performing solo or fronting a band\, playing electric or acoustic guitar\, Bonneville allows space between notes that adds potency to every chord\, lick\, and lyric. Thom Jurek (Allmusic.com) remarks\, “With darkness and light fighting for dominance… he’s stripped away every musical excess to let the songs speak for themselves.”  \nOften called a “song and groove man\,” Bonneville has lived the life of the itinerant artist. To learn more about that\, come to the show or read further on his website.

SUMMARY:GARETH PEARSON
DESCRIPTION:GARETH PEARSON is referred to as “The Welsh Tornado” which is particularly appropriate\, seeing as this special talent combines fingerstyle pyrotechnics\, with explosive lead runs making Pearson one of the most exciting acoustic musicians gigging today.  Ticket link follows bio. \nGareth has a distinctive style that can be heard through his creative and innovative arrangements which cover a wide spectrum of genres\, including country/folk/classical/pop/rock/jazz/swing and bluegrass music\, along with his own beautiful and often intricate original compositions. \nDrawing his playing style initially from influences such as Chet Atkins\, Merle Travis\, Jerry Reed and Tommy Emmanuel\, he has developed a style that is both inspiring and entertaining. \nWithin a year of taking up the guitar\, Gareth was opening for Tommy Emmanuel on his 2005 UK tour. It was in Cardiff where Tommy invited Gareth to play at the CAAS convention (Chet Atkins Appreciation Society) in Nashville. \nLater that year\, Gareth was performing and touring alongside Ray Davies (The Kinks)\, John Renbourne\, and Southside Johnny and the Ashbury Jukes. During the Southside Johnny tour\, Gareth was invited by Southside to be flown over to the USA to open for his annual New Years Eve concert at the Count Basie Theatre in New Jersey. \nThe following year Gareth was invited by Tommy Emmanuel to be the support act for his UK tour\, following extensive UK supports to Jan Akkerman\, Andy McKee and appearing at numerous Folk Festivals and Guitar workshops including the Montreal Jazz Festival. \nWith appearances throughout Europe and a growing reputation\, Gareth was invited to perform at the 2008 Canadian Guitar Festival where he came to the attention of Candyrat Records. This lay the seed for Gareth to be the first UK guitarist to be signed by the label. On its release\, Gareth’s debut album “Urban Echoes Vol 1” was selected by Acoustic Guitar editors and frequent contributors as one of the “Essential Acoustic Albums of 2010”. \nWith Appearances at the 2009 Montreal Guitar Festival\, USA and Worldwide tours and Guitar workshops\, Gareth’s reputation as a performer and teacher is constantly growing. \n“I’m Gareth’s number one fan! What a guitarist! His original compositions hit the ears like cool spring water on a hot summer’s day. His stage show has everyone up on their feet. Fingerstyle guitar is in good hands for the next generation”\nStefan Grossman
