SUMMARY:TIM GRIMM- album release
DESCRIPTION:Ticket link is below bio. \nTIM GRIMM is a bit of a Renaissance man in the performing arts world. He has for the past 20 years blended his love for songwriting\, travel\, and the storytelling of acting (theatre\, film and television). Tim’s new album\, THE LITTLE IN-BETWEEN (March 2023)\, is an evocative evolution from his previous albums – and his most personal to date\, written in three intense months during the winter of 2021-22. This album traces his travel between the hills of southern Indiana and the Oklahoma prairie – and his internal journey from a rich past to an unexpected future – using a first-person voice in every song to illuminate a deep inner territory that historically remained more submerged in his work. This fertile creative year also yielded forays into visual art\, with Tim using pastels and charcoal to create striking folk-art style triptychs\, pieces of which now form the visual art featured on the new album cover and booklet. \nFrom 2019– HEART LAND AGAIN revisits a renowned collection of songs from 20 years ago…. A STRANGER IN THIS TIME (2017)\, In the Fall of 2016 he recorded the single- WOODY’S LANDLORD– which was the #1 song on Folk Radio for the year. Tim’s previous recording\, THE TURNING POINT\, produced the #1 song on Folk radio in 2014– KING OF THE FOLKSINGERS. It was a particularly gratifying honor\, given the song is a tribute to Tim’s friend and musical icon\, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott. Tim’s history with Ramblin’ Jack goes back 30 years– beginning with a bicycle ride that led to The Newport Folk Festival…. Tim contributing liner notes to Jack’s Grammy winning album\, The South Coast (1995)… Jack’s recording Buffalo Skinners with Tim on Tim’s album\, Coyote’s Dream (2003)….and now\, most recently KING OF THE FOLKSINGERS. \nComplete bio on Tim’s website.

SUMMARY:MY POLITIC
DESCRIPTION:MY POLITIC is a Folk/Americana duo consisting of Kaston Guffey and Nick Pankey\, who grew up together in Ozark MO and started My Politic around the age of 15. Kaston writes character driven story songs and Nick adds sibling-like harmony to create a unique sound that is totally their own. \nShort-Sighted People in Power “They are inspired\, brave and brilliant songs\, remarkably comprehensive but never preachy or ponderous. It’s perfect for this American moment. Rendered tenderly with close harmonies throughout\, it evoked the sound of Don Henley and Glenn Frey singing Randy Newman songs. It’s subversive\, but also soulfully charming.” – Paul Zollo – American Songwriter \nInspired by artists like John Prine\, Woody Guthrie\, Randy Newman\, Bob Dylan\, Patty Griffin\, Nina Simone\, Simon & Garfunkel classic country and so much else\, My Politic has recorded 9 albums to date and have released 3 of those since moving to Nashville 7 years ago: “Anchor” (2015) “12 Kinds of Lost” (2017) and “Short-Sighted People In Power” (released 10/30/2020)\, which is a collection of songs written and recorded between March and August of 2020 hyper-focused on politics & current affairs. The album has been featured 3 times in American Songwriter. \nTheir newest album “MISSOURI FOLKLORE: SONGS & STORIES FROM HOME” will be released early December 2022.

SUMMARY:CASH BOX KINGS
DESCRIPTION:The show was postponed from a cold night in December.  Buy tickets (if available) below the bio.   \nAlligator Recording artists the CASH BOX KINGS are bona fide blues royalty. Co-led by real-deal Chicago blues vocalist and songwriter OSCAR WILSON and  songwriter\, harmonica giant and singer JOE NOSEK\, the band plays masterfully raw and unvarnished houserocking blues. Wilson’s huge\, gritty vocals and Nosek’s powerhouse harmonica fuel their razor-sharp original songs. BILLY FLYNN will be making it a trio with his masterful guitar playing. \nMixing tough Chicago and Delta blues\, jumping proto-rock ‘n’ roll\, and steamrolling “bluesabilly” (their original mix of Chicago blues and Memphis rockabilly)\, they attack every song they play with contemporary authority and old school authenticity.  With their top shelf musicianship and trademark good humor\, the Cash Box Kings are a one-of-a-kind blues band. In the words of MOJO magazine\, the band is “flawless.”

SUMMARY:CLAUDIA SCHMIDT
DESCRIPTION:Ticket information is below the bio. \nCLAUDIA SCHMIDT has been perfecting her craft of performing for almost four decades. It is a quirky and wonderful hodge-podge (her word!) of music\, poetry\, story\, laughter. drama\, and celebrating the moment. Work in clubs\, theaters\, festivals\, TV\, radio has added depth and dimension\, and since she has always included her original work along with very personal versions of the work of others\, what you get is a unique look at the world from someone who says what she sees with clarity\, humor\, and wonder. \nThe San Francisco Bay Guardian said: Schmidt’s shows are a lot like falling in love. You never know what’s going to happen next\, chances are it’s going to be wonderful\, every moment is burned into your memory and you know you’ll never be the same again.” More succinctly\, Garrison Keiilor said “when Claudia sings a song\, it stays sung.”

SUMMARY:New Year's Eve w/ CHERYL & THE DOWN HOME BOYS
DESCRIPTION:The dinner portion of the evening is now  sold out.   NOTA BENE: We do NOT serve food from our regular menu this night– we are only open to those who sign up for the food and music package\, (the food portion of which is sold out\, to be redundant). \nBUT- there are still seats for just the show starting at 7:00\, and you can buy them below. Please arrive around 6:45 if coming just for the show. \n\n \n \n \n \nExcited to have finally come with a great New Year’s Eve plan. It is our usual New Year’s Eve dinner* and music** package\, but the twist is that \nwe are starting the MUSIC at 7:00– two sets separated by a dessert break. (As the New Year has not the ability to know the difference\, we will welcome it at some point in the musical evening. And\, if you so desire\,  you can greet it again in the comfort of your bed at midnight.) \nWe will open at 5:00 for those eating.   \n*DINNER will be served at 3 seating times:  5:15\, 5:45 and 6:15. It will be chicken tchoupitoulas- a seasoned chicken breast on a bed of potatoes\, mushrooms\, and ham covered with Bernaise sauce\, preceded by a creamy spinach garlic soup.  Those of you who need a vegetarian or vegan option please alert us considerably in advance so that we can accommodate you.  A dessert buffet will happen between sets. (Note that this is not included in the just for the show ticket price.) \n       **THE MUSIC: Also excited to have CHERYL & THE DOWN HOME BOYS providing music– a sweet acoustic blend of American roots music: old time country/ folk/blues and a bit of  bluegrass.  Cheryl Niemo‘s singing career began in her childhood home\, accompanying country songs on the radio.  Today those old country songs\, along with a mix of americana music form a large portion of her repertoire.  Her voice is beautiful and compelling\, and she knows how to deliver a song.  Pete Jonsson plays guitar and sings harmony.  He plays in different styles\, flat picking\, finger picking\, and slide guitar.  On occasion a harmonica will find its way to the microphone.  If it does\, it’s Pete’s fault.  Marty Brunkalla is a luthier by day and often a musician on evenings and weekends.  His mandolin and fiddle are a testament to his skill at his day job\, and his playing is exquisite\, weaving counter melodies through the songs.  Sometimes he joins in on a third harmony line. \nSeating is limited. Please buy your tickets ideally  by Friday so that we can plan for food preparation and seating.  That does not totally rule out reserving at a later time\, but it may sell out before that. The same staff has to shop\, cook\, clean\, etc\, so pre-planning is essential.\nJoin us to ring in the New Year with joy\, goodness and warmth\, and carry it through the upcoming year.

SUMMARY:RANDY SABIEN TRIO
DESCRIPTION: RANDY SABIEN TRIO featuring Yazmin Bowers and Ed Willett  \nRandy Sabien – violin\, piano\, guitar\, vocals  \nYazmin Bowers – keyboard\, vocals\, accordion  \nEd Willett – cello\, vocals\, guitar  \nPURCHASE tickets following the bios. \nRANDY SABIEN has 45 years of international recognition as a jazz violinist/educator. His Wisconsin roots go back to his great-grandparents’ cottage in Shell Lake. Started two college string departments\, (Berklee College of Music – Boston; McNally Smith College of Music – St. Paul) recorded a dozen albums and fly fishes in his spare time.  \nYazmin Bowers hails from Washburn on Chequemegon Bay and is the progeny of two musical parents – Hope McLeod and the late Bruce Bowers. She sings\, writes\, paints and is a Latin music and dance aficionado.  \nEd Willett is an extraordinary cellist – superb classical chops\, highly skilled improviser\, and the ability to accompany himself while singing. He’s had a long career performing with his wife\, vocalist Cheryl Leah as the group “Chance.” And by the way\, he spent a couple of years touring with Rickie Lee Jones.  \nThese three players have worked with each other as ad hoc members of the Big Top Chautauqua’s “Blue Canvas Orchestra” over many years. During the recent pandemic shut down we were all wondering “what should we do next?” As it turned out\, the answer is “This!”  \n“My performances either present me as a jazz violinist leading a rhythm section or as a multi-instrumentalist backing up a solo singer/songwriter. Playing with Yazmin Bowers and Ed Willett I have the freedom to flip back and forth between those two roles. The depth of talent allows each of us to step into the spotlight with our individual voices while the others provide accompaniment. You will hear me play an original instrumental on piano while Yazmin solos on synthesizer and Ed plucks a bass line on cello. Yazmin will sing one of her heartfelt songs as Ed and  \nI weave in improvised background string lines. I’ll break into one of my fiddle tunes with Yazmin on accordion and Ed on guitar. We’ll dive into blues\, folk\, jazz\, classical\, Latin styles and more while delicately dancing within and without each other’s musical space.” RS

SUMMARY:HAYWARD WILLIAMS/ Paul Mitch
DESCRIPTION:Purchase tickets below bios. \nHAYWARD WILLIAMS is a veteran singer/songwriter from Milwaukee\, WI. With seven full length records under his belt\, Williams is set to release his latest effort: Every Color Blue.  A Soul record of the highest order in a time when Soul is needed the most. \nGrowing up in Wisconsin in the 80’s and 90’s convinced Hayward Williams to search for something more out there in the world. Foregoing higher education\, he joined a band and learned much about what to do and what not to do in the Midwest music scene. Playing in pubs for many years \, getting thick skin and finding a notably sharp tongue\, avenues opened up to Williams. Headlining European tours\, major US festivals and a few trips to Australia later\, Hayward has carved out an impressive niche in the folk music business. \nWilliams’ The Reef\, was produced by venerated songwriter\, friend and collaborator Jeffrey Foucault. Utilizing an impressive rhythm section of Billy Conway (Morphine) on drums and Jeremy Moses Curtis (Booker T\, Levon Helm\, Session Americana) on bass\, The Reef is an unequaled Americana record with soaring vocals and hooks that dig in deep. “The surprisingly soulful voice of Milwaukee-based singer/songwriter Hayward Williams emanates from a slight\, almost unassuming figure\, yet that voice is imbued with so much power\, it’s difficult to imagine it coming from anywhere other than midway between Memphis and Muscle Shoals… The Reef is an album to return to again and again.” – Allan Wilkinson\, Northern Sky Magazine (UK) \nEvery Color Blue was slated to be recorded in Chicago during the spring of 2020. Obviously\, that didn’t happen. With musicians spread across the country in lockdown\, changes had to be made. Music making became a therapeutic exercise for those stuck in a world where everything else had come to a halt.  Eight original tunes and four songs written by dear friends\, Jeffrey Foucault\, Kris Delmhorst\, J. Hardin and John Statz\, make up the whole of this soulful revue. Jeremy Moses Curtis (Bass/Producer)\, Charlie Koltak (Drums) and Brooks Milgate (Keys) are the backbone of this impressive line-up of friends and collaborators who were let off the chain to create something that is truly missing in the new world we live in\, Soul. \nPraise for Hayward’s previous release: Pretenders  “Often dark\, always honest and in the groove\, Williams continues to break new ground in new traditional folk rock. There’s a ghostly spirit that floats through the songs on “Pretenders.” Williams is a wary caretaker of those spirits. His songs brim with the smoke and mirror lyricism of Leonard Cohen—with the rocker’s heart of Neil Young.”  -Andy Moore ISTHMUS (Madison\, WI) \nPAUL MITCH is a multi-instrumentalist and recording engineer in southern Wisconsin. Paul is a seasoned veteran of both the studio and the stage\, cutting his teeth as a freelance engineer and performer in Chicago and throughout the midwest. In addition to his solo work\, Paul is half of midwest folk-americana group Lost Lakes with fellow songwriter Corey Mathew Hart. Paul’s latest album “Echoes & Shadows” has been dubbed “ a well-worn\, contemplative piece of Americana” with lyrics that “paint a narrative tied to turbulence” by Tone Madison. \n\n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:LOST SOULS
DESCRIPTION:the new tradition of the newly-plated LOST SOULS playing the day after Thanksgiving \n Buy tickets following bio \nAmericana\, folk\, blues and humor (intentional & otherwise…)\, this could be the band for you.  Is it true they’ve won multiple awards and are incredibly good looking?  Is it true they are masters of their instruments and on-stage behavior?  Well\, no – but you might enjoy them anyway. \nThe Lost Souls (previously known as What’s His Name & Some Other Guys\, Syd Hartha & the Monkeyminds\, & Devil in the Outhouse) clearly have identity issues – but then again\, doesn’t the whole damn country these days?  I mean – do any of us know who we really are?  Which is precisely why an evening of music\, frivolity\, and drinking may be just what you need. \nGreg on too many guitars and vocals.  Looper on harmonica\, lead guitar and vocals. SUMMARY:MIKE DOWLING-
DESCRIPTION:So excited to have the fabulous Mike back in our country and our room. \nMIKE DOWLING \n“Dowling is one of the most relaxed and highly skilled acoustic guitar players of his generation that I have ever heard. Everything he performs appears natural and deceptively effortless and with a tone\, particularly when he plays slide guitar that is very much his own and that very few others can emulate. His vocals have an engaging edge and alongside his consummate guitar skills there was nothing to criticize. After a number of encores a member of the audience spontaneously stood up and gave a heartfelt thanks to Mike for such a wonderful evening.”  – Blues in Britain\, performance review \nMike digs deep into the musical bag of American roots guitar\, favoring the melodic Piedmont style of acoustic blues masters like Mississippi John Hurt and slide great Tampa Red. But Mike can’t be pigeonholed as a blues player\, or even as a fingerstylist. From bottleneck blues to vintage jazz and much more in between\, Mike’s musicality\, depth\, and mastery of the instrument translates fluently to flattop\, archtop\, and resonator guitars alike.

SUMMARY:ERIK KOSKINEN/ LONG MAMA- SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:Looking forward to a great night with 2 great acts.  LONG MAMA had to cancel their last gig due to COVID\, so this will be their first shot at the Carpe.  ERIK\, who produced their new record\, is a seasoned Carper. \nLONG MAMA: Songwriter Kat Wodtke leads Andrew Koenig and Nick Lang (Ryan Necci & the Buffalo Gospel)\, along with Samuel Odin (Horseshoes & Hand Grenades)\, on a haunting journey of wide-open spaces and tight spots\, each song blistering with heart and grit. \nWith a penchant for the theatrical\, Wodtke’s songs weave tall and not-so-tall tales of mountain manhunts\, doomed honeymoons\, stalled engines\, and gravel roads into an experience as captivating as the landscapes she’s traveled. Her longtime love affair with classic country\, folk\, Americana\, R&B\, and punk music braids each into Long Mama’s singular sound. \nPoor Pretender\, Long Mama’s debut LP out October 28\, was engineered by Erik Koskinen and recorded live over a long\, snowy weekend in small-town Minnesota. The album showcases the band’s particular ability to conjure the beautiful in the broken\, the silver in the ore. Shimmering below the surface of each song is Wodtke’s lived insight into our human faults and fissures: the moments in life when we can slip and lose our footing…or claw our way out\, better people on the other side of the canyon. \nA blend of American folk\, country\, rock-n-roll\, and blues\, ERIK KOSKINEN realizes a sound that is distinctive and fresh while familiar and classic. Erik has recently released Burning The Deal on Real Phonic Records/Tone Tree Music. The “Big Plane” video clip features Amelia Fleetwood (daughter of Mick) and the track is out now. \nKoskinen’s albums are a lyrical and musical metaphor of America’s theaters of war\, history\, relationships\, and reflections in the mirror. Burning The Deal was produced by Koskinen and Bernie Larsen (Melissa Etheridge\, Jackson Browne) and recorded by Jason Mariani (Mumford & Sons\, Kenny Loggins) at Brotheryn Studios in Ojai\, California. \nKnowing but not didactic\, Koskinen channels the ways of Whitman and reverently enters the anthology of uniquely crafted wry songs with the likes of Woody Guthrie and Ry Cooder while speaking as plainly as your neighbor. The Minneapolis Star Tribune calls Koskinen “the real deal” and “the best country songwriter in Minnesota.” \nKoskinen just completed a tour out west with frequent collaborator Jeffrey Foucault.
