SUMMARY:CHUCK LEMONDS
DESCRIPTION:Guitarist and songwriter CHUCK LEMONDS lived over 15 years in the west-central Wisconsin countryside\, freezing his tail off in winter just like all the others who were passing through. \nIn the early 90’s Chuck immigrated to Europe\, specifically to Austria and set up shop and is currently releasing his 10th album of songs called “A Walking Paradise” recorded in his home studio with Austrian electric guitarist Klaus Ambrosch. He has toured over the years solo\, duo and with his band in Germany\, the UK\, Switzerland\, Slovenia and in the USA. Over the years\, he has maintained contact and brought many Wisconsin musicians to Austria\, and or organized gigs for them: Mary Gaines\, Chris Wagoner\, Clyde Stubblefield\, Howard “Guitar” Luedtke\, Peter Phippen\, Randy Sabien\, Chris Silver\, Josh Harty. It’s with great anticipation and joy that Chuck returns to the home country to play at the Carpe after a 30 year absence.

SUMMARY:MATTHEW FRANCIS ANDERSEN/ JOSH HARTY
DESCRIPTION:MATTHEW FRANCIS ANDERSEN is a Chicago native. His experience as a fishing guide in the northwoods allows him to seamlessly bridge the traffic and taverns of the city with the pines and prairies of the open Midwest. Matthew is currently touring in support of his cd Blue Line. He is the winner of American Songwriter Magazine’s 2012 lyric contest. \n“Matthew Francis Andersen’s music is reminiscent of Steve Earle\, John Prine\, and Springsteen. He’s a tremendous writer\, bridging Chicago with the Northwoods. I really dig what he’s doing.” – Nick Digilio\, WGN Radio\, 720am\, Chicago \n“Matthew Francis Andersen is a consummate craftsmen. His song “Blue Line” proves he has a poet’s eye for detail\, a trait that separates good writers from legions of hacks.” Caine O’Rear\, Editor-In-Chief\, American Songwriter Magazine. \nJOSH HARTY is a singer/ songwriter originally from Fargo\, ND\, though now he calls Madison home. He grew up singing and later playing guitar with his dad from the age of 6\, touring the Midwest performing at senior centers\, churches and small-town festivals. These days he still spends most of the year on the road\, touring throughout the US and Europe (spending less time in Wisconsin than he’d like). Currently working on his fourth solo album and planning more tours for 2016\, Harty shows no signs of slowing down. His live shows prove that good story telling combined with journeyman musicianship is as American as music gets. \n“A work of extreme intensity\, with beautiful voice\, warm and strong.”-Lonestar Times of Italy \n“There is a dignity to this music making that leaves us feeling enriched for the experience.” – John Davy\, No Depression \n.”Josh\, Josh – where have you been? SUMMARY:SIMON BALTO/ WHITNEY MANN
DESCRIPTION:Most people mention the voice first. It comes from deep within. Sounds like it means what it says. Then come the lyrics and the stories — ones about workers and lovers\, mothers and sons\, the dying and mourning\, the prideful and the abused. Ones about the Midwest and the beauty and difficulty that characterizes life around here. There is a humanity in the songs that recalls the work of some of the folk tradition’s finest architects.\nThe songs linger. Exhale. Persist. \nSIMON BALTO‘s work has garnered praise from critics both local\, regional\, national\, and international. The Irish music publication Deadly Music! has compared his songwriting to top-of-his-game\, Blood on the Tracks-era Dylan. The Chicago-based music curator Music Means Family said the following: “An unbelievable talent\, his layered folk ballads are reminiscent of Baez and Dylan\, Guthrie and Prine. There is a deeply satisfying componentto each of his songs – a reminder of home\, woodsmoke\, and the first traces of your breath as winter begins to settle.” \nHe has been featured on Wisconsin Public Television\, Wisconsin Public Radio\, Big Top Chautauqua’s Tent Show Radio\, Daytrotter\, and has supported and shared stages with a wide range of artists in recent years\, from Jason Isbell to Johnnyswim\, Field Report to Anderson East\, Peter Mulvey to Communist Daughter\, Charlie Parr to Horseshoes & Hand Grenades. \nIn 2016\, he will release Murmurations\, a full-band record that features Shane Leonard (Kalispell\, Field Report)\, Ben Lester (S. Carey\, The Tallest Man on Earth\, Aero Flynn)\, Steven Hobert\, Kevin Rowe (Buffalo Gospel)\, and Amanda Rigell (Count This Penny). \nJoining Simon for the evening will be Madison singer-songwriter WHITNEY MANN. “Whitney Mann is the best kept secret in Wisconsin. She’s raw\, she’s real. Whitney sings and writes from the heart\, you can’t ask for more than that in a musician.”\n– John T Selman\, Production Manager\, Willie Nelson and Family   Whitney Mann is an old soul with a child’s glow. Her story is only beginning. It’s the story of a poetic farm girl from Michigan who grew up to open for Loretta Lynn. It’s the story of a young woman whose voice will break your heart but whose songs will bring you back for more.

SUMMARY:JIM & VIVIAN CRAIG and FRED CAMPEAU and MITCH THOMAS
DESCRIPTION:Mitch Thomas and Fred Campeau and Jim and Vivian Craig have put together an ukeclectic show that promises to bring a smile\, and maybe a tear or two. \nIn addition to their tight vocal blending\, the foursome stretch out with some instrumental surprises: Viv and Mitch on ukuleles\, Fred on guitar\, banjo\, and Hawaiian resonator guitar\, and Jim on concertina\, guitar\, and bass ukulele (yes\, you read that right). There’ll be old songs\, blue songs\, and some new songs\, written by Jim and Viv. \nFred Campeau and Mitch Thomas have been a team since the early 70’s\, when they met while both were performing around Chicago. Fred plays guitar\, banjo\, fiddle and harmonica\, and was a long-time member of the Volo Bogtrotters. In addition to playing guitar\, banjo and ukulele\, Mitch teaches choir\, theater and uke\, and is a two-time winner of the Wheatland Festival Folksinging Contest. \nJim and Vivian Craig have been harmonizing for almost forty years. When not loosely affiliated with Mitch and Fred\, Jim and Viv perform with Chicago-based Na Mele Aloha\, an Hawaiian music ensemble. \nAny of you who used to frequent the Green Dragon would have fond memories of them all. \nPlease call to reserve.

SUMMARY:A ROSE AMONG THORNS
DESCRIPTION:Fort Atkinson’s own Perry Baird\, Tom Cook (TC) and Jeff Mason will be joined again by Fort violinist Erica Flyte on a number of songs. Perry and Tom are officially retired from their former day jobs\, and Jeff is about half-way there. They are all getting a little long in the tooth and slow off the couch\, but their fingers are almost as nimble as ever. The boys will wind their way through traditional folk and fiddle tunes (this time with Erica actually providing fiddle) and whatever else they can remember. Perry and Jeff play guitar(s) and Perry does most of the singing. TC seems to be bringing a collection of (mostly) four and eight-stringed wooden instruments and will be making his second sojourn onto the Carpe stage\, with some tasty instrumentals promised. Quite honestly\, the whole thing is a work-in-progress and the old geezers are just as anxious as anyone else to hear what happens\, particularly with the addition of Erica’s sweet violin to the mix. \nThey’ll wind their way through a mix of contemporary and traditional folk\, pop\, and blues tunes\, plus a few novelties of highly suspect origin. \nPlease call to reserve at 920-563-9391.

SUMMARY:HOWARD LEVY & CORKY SIEGEL- SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION: Leave a note at the Discussion section at this link expressing your interest in tickets should any become available. \nCORKY SIEGEL and HOWARD LEVY:  A Harmonica Convergence of Two Giants of Jazz and Blues \nThe contrasting musical conversations between these two giants of jazz and blues\, both who are stellar performers on harmonica and piano\, has proven to be a riveting edge-of-your-seat experience. Individuality\, uniqueness\, playfulness and adventure\, are all trademarks of both the stylings of Siegel and Levy. They draw the audience in with an intimacy to their performance in a way that only old friends of several decades – with a special connection\, can. They constantly conjole with a grand sense of humor while dazzling you with sheer jaw-dropping skill and virtuosity. \nCorky Siegel is\, of course\, the award-winning composer who\, at a very young age\, learned his craft at the feet of such legendary first generation bluesmen as Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf and as a part of Siegel-Schwall Band. With his Chamber Blues ensemble\, he is credited with moving the blues from smokey clubs onto the classical concert stage and obliterating musical categorization in the process. \nHoward Levy is probably best known as a founding member of the GRAMMY winning group Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. He has recorded with a long list of greats such as Paul Simon and Dolly Parton\, as well as frequent guest appearances performing on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion’s weekly National Public Radio show. \nAny audience member who attended their last rare foray together can tell you this evening is definitely one not to be missed.

SUMMARY:BILL STAINES
DESCRIPTION:Anyone not familiar with the music of Bill Staines is in for a special treat. \nSinging mostly his own songs\, he has become one of the most popular and durable singers on the folk music scene today\, performing nearly 200 concerts a year and driving over 65\,000 miles annually. He weaves a blend of gentle wit and humor into his performances and one reviewer wrote\, “He has a sense of timing to match the best standup comic.” \nBill’s music is a slice of Americana\, reflecting with the same ease his feelings about the prairie people of the Midwest or the adventurers of the Yukon\, the on-the-road truckers\, or the everyday workers that make up this land. \nMany of Bill’s songs have appeared in grade school music books\, church hymnals\, and scouting campfire songbooks; he is one of only a few songwriters to have eight songs published in the classic song collection\, Rise up Singing. Composer David Amram recently described Bill as “a modern day Stephen Foster…his songs will be around 100 years from now.” \nOver the decades\, you have heard Bill singing on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion\, HBO’s award winning series Deadwood\, and Public Radio’s Mountain Stage. Additionally\, his music has been used in a number of films including Off and Running\, with Cyndi Lauper\, and The Return of the Secaucus Seven\, John Sayles’ debut as a writer- director. \nIn 1975\, Bill won National Yodeling Championship in Kerrville Texas. Another important recognition was given to him in 2007. Presented by the Boston Area Coffeehouse Association\, The Jerry Christen Award recognized Bill’s contribution to New England folk music. \nCurrently\, Bill has recorded 26 albums; The Happy Wanderer and One More River were winners of the prestigious Parents’ Choice Award\, taking a gold medal and silver medal respectively. His songs have been recorded by many artists including Peter\, Paul\, and Mary\, Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy\, The Highwaymen\, Mason Williams\, Grandpa Jones\, Jerry Jeff Walker\, Nanci Griffith\, Glen Yarborough and others. \n“Folk music is rich in the human spirit and experience. I’ve always wanted to bring something of value to people through my songs.” With these thoughts\, Bill continues to drive the highways and back roads of the country year after year\, bringing his music to listeners\, young and old. \n“Bill Staines has been my hero since 1977. He carries on where Woody left off-carrying on the tradition of stories and characters you wish you knew.” – Nanci Griffith\n“Staines is one of the best songwriters in folk music today\, penning lyrics that evoke a sense of place and a generous spirit to go along with his pretty melodies. – Associated Press\n“Staines is one of folk music’s best songwriters and entertainers.” – Milwaukee Journal\n“There is no better writer of instantly memorable singalong choruses in this genre of music!” – The Boston Globe\n“His gentle lilting voice\, spacious melodies and common-chord lyrics give his songs a homespun grace that often belies his mastery of the folk form. He is such a pure pleasure too\, people forget to notice how damn good at the job of singer-songwritering he really is.” – New England Folk Almanac\n“Folk singer Bill Staines’ compositions recall the paintings of Grandma Moses – simple\, literal and evocative of a bucolic tranquility that modern times have almost erased.” – Hartford Courant \nPLEASE CALL TO RESERVE.

SUMMARY:JACK WILLIAMS
DESCRIPTION:It’s been a long time since JACK WILLIAMS played here\, but as indicated below\, it will be a pleasure to have him share his talents again. \nMusic legends Peter Yarrow (Peter\, Paul\, & Mary) and Tom Paxton lauded Williams as ‘the best guitar player I’ve ever heard’ and ‘one of my (Paxton) all-time favorite pickers.’ It is no cliché’ to say that his music defies genre labeling\, as his style has evolved from a lifetime of musical involvement ranging from beatnik trumpeter and folk revivalist banjo player to country\, rock and R & B electric and steel-guitar player and chamber music composer. \nWilliams spends the majority of his time touring the US\, playing major music festivals and venues\, which have included The Newport Folk Festival and Chicago’s Folkstage\, hosted by Rich Warren of NPR’s nationally syndicated show\, ‘The Midnight Special.’ \nOf him\, Warren says\, “his artistry… is nothing short of amazing. Dazzling picking\, expressive voice\, unique and interesting songs. He is a showman in the best sense of the word and just wowed our audience. I think they would have followed him anywhere.” From a recent performance at a popular Birmingham concert venue\, Moonlight on the Mountain\, proprietor Keith Harrelson said\, “Jack is a fearless singer\, inventive storyteller\, forceful-yet-delicate guitarist\, and holds near-legendary status as a modern-times troubadour…. precisely what kept him relevant to at least three generations of loyal fans.” \nThough sometimes thought of as a ‘singer-songwriter’\, audiences should not expect a night of quiet introspective ballads. Williams is known for his entertaining and high energy performances. He often concludes his shows with a unique finale\, a medley of songs and stories that span the varied styles and voices of his musical past\, keeping audiences enthralled from start to finish. \n“An adept acoustic guitarist and extremely capable in the vocal and songwriting departments…. Difficult to categorize\, Williams blends folk\, country\, jazz\, and blues in a somewhat gentler Ry Cooder manner…. It would be hard to value one album over the other; both are of high caliber… Possessing a clear tenor\,Williams showcases his fluid fingerpicking style on both discs… both albums are treats for the listener.  Jack Williams comprehends the potency of understatement and inhabits a world that may be less realistic but certainly kinder.” Pieter Hofmann\, DIRTY LINEN \n“…an American Treasure” – Mickey Newbury \n“…one of the strongest guitar players in contemporary folk.”  – Sing Out! \nIf there is anyone not familiar with Jack’s incredible songwriting and prodigious performance skills\, my sympathies to you. A Jack Williams show is a slam-dunk win-win-win for all. One of the most enlightened and entertaining performers I’ve ever encountered. – Dave Humpreys\, Two Way Street Coffeehouse in Downers Grove IL \n“…like a South Carolina version of an acoustic Bruce Springsteen with Jerry Garcia on acoustic lead guitar.”\nMike Agranoff – Folk Project and Minstrel Coffeehouse\, Morristown NJ \n“Jack Williams is one of the most eclectic singer songwriters going. You can hear both the white and black musical traditions in his writing. You can hear country\, you can hear blues\, you can hear jazz. He’s a poet who knows how to write simply. And he’s a remarkable\, magical performer\, with graceful good humor\, and a hot guitar style.”\n– Phil Shapiro\, host\, WVBR’s “Bound for Glory” \n*****Please call to reserve.

And playing at old venues\, with old friends like- \nJAY BULLOCK  Milwaukee’s premier English teacher/ singer-songwriter/ columnist/ comedian/ cat owner/ tea drinker! and friend of Jon Svetkey \nPlease call to reserve.

SUMMARY:PAUL CEBAR/ PETER MULVEY/ BILL CAMPLIN/ new addition! CARSIE BLANTON
DESCRIPTION:Click on BUY TICKETS to buy tickets.  Carpe will open at 5:30 this evening.\n \nThis show has been added because all these fabulous people were still available to play and the other shows sold out. And now we have CARSIE BLANTON too. She happens to be a different gender from the other people on the stage. \nA live-wire on any stage\, PETER MULVEY is an acoustic singer/songwriter/guitarist who\, in fact\, defies this categorization. His ferocious guitar playing whisks him through more tunings than he has fingers in the course of an evening\, as he winds his way from full-throated rockers to deceptively plain-spoken musings. \nBILL CAMPLIN has been an integral part of the Wisconsin acoustic music scene for many years both as a performer and as co-owner of the Cafe Carpe. Bill is a strong guitarist with a beautiful tenor voice and he is noted for penetrating\, intensely emotional performances of both his original songs and his interpretations of others such as Bob Dylan. \nPAUL CEBAR– songwriter\, singer\, guitarist with a penchant for African\, Latin American\, Caribbean\, R & B\, jazz\, New Orleans etc. music\, host of WMSE’s radio show Way Back Home\, “that allows him to dig into his extensive vinyl collection and pontificate about his various influences.” \n“His oeuvre is every bit as impressive as that of more heralded singer-songwriters such as Nick Lowe and John Hiatt\, and his brand new album\, Fine Rude Thing\, is one of the young year’s best.” Jeff Niesel\, Cleveland Scene \nCARSIE BLANTON \n“Carsie Blanton is a rare talent as a modern songwriter\, her sly wit and urbane imagery reminds me of a female Cole Porter. She paints a vivid landscape with lyrics that are deceptively conversational and at the same time surprisingly perceptive for a relatively new artist. I’m really happy to know that classic songwriting is in good hands with Carsie Blanton.”  John Oates (of Hall & Oates) \n“Carsie’s lyrics are an iron fist in the velvet glove of her voice.”  Peter Mulvey

SUMMARY:SAM LLANAS solo
DESCRIPTION:Grab the chance to hear the distinctive voice and talent of Sam Llanas in a solo performance. \nSAM LLANAS (formerly of the BoDeans) is an iconic American singer\, acoustic guitarist\, and songwriter. Sam is best known for his unique and distinctively soulful voice.  It was Llanas’ voice that supplied the trademark vocal on Robbie Robertson’s “Somewhere Down the Crazy River.” \nIn 1997 Llanas founded the band Absinthe. As Absinthe Sam released one album\, 1998’s critically acclaimed A Good Day To Die. In 2011 Sam Llanas left the BoDeans and released 4 A.M. (The Way Home) on Inner Knot Records. In 2013 he released the live retrospective 4/5 Live – Vol I. \nIn 2012 the music from 1998‘s A Good Day To Die was incorporated into a collaboration with playwright Doug Vincent and producer Gary Tanin in the production “A Day for Grace.” By 2013 the play had evolved to include multi-city tours and multi-week runs in New York City. \nOn November 18th\, 2014 Llanas released The Whole Night Thru\, an all new studio record produced by longtime collaborator Gary Tanin. SUMMARY:SACRED WATERS SACRED LAND-33 days on Twin #66- Walking the Enbridge Pipeline
DESCRIPTION:Beginning June 8th and ending on July 10th  a group will walk the Enbridge Pipeline in approximately 20 miles increments from Walworth to Superior.  They are stopping to give in Fort Atkinson and will give a presentation on the pipeline. \nCheck out their Facebook page. \n“Our walk along the Enbridge crude and tar sands pipeline system is to raise awareness about the proposed “Twin” line #66. This new line will follow the existing aging pipeline series\, already transporting millions of barrels of toxic crude through the heart of the state daily\, and intends to increase flow-through to a staggering 3+ million barrels a day\, a volume triple that of Keystone XL! \nThe expansion of the line requires an additional 200″ right-of-way easement which Enbridge will try to buy or cheat people out of using eminent domain\, increasing our potential expose to dangerous\, cancer-causing tar sands dilbit and bitumen solvents at even greater levels than they already are. \nAt various revival locations along the route\, we will educate and support not only the landowners directly affected by the expansion\, but also the people of Wisconsin as a whole. The solution is not just in stopping this expansion as we fight for our houses\, communities and natural areas\, but also in empowering citizens to seek out new ways to reduce our use and dependency on fossil fuels and turn us to a renewable energy future\, the ultimate solution. \nThe culmination of the 33 Days on Twin#66 will be a celebration of Renewable Energy Independence Day on July 10th in Superior. You can participate in the walk itself\, or as support volunteers along the route or even in your daily routine by taking the Virtual Walk and raising money for our cause.” \nA virtual version of the walk has been set up so you can participate and show your solidarity with the walkers by logging the miles you put on as you go about your daily routine. One member has been walking virtually on his iPhone using the preinstalled Health app which is linked directly to his My Mission app and his progress is updated automatically. Easy to join and show your support. http://www.myvirtualmission.com/missions/13096/33-days-on-twin-66?event=223759

SUMMARY:VICKY EMERSON and SARAH MORRIS
DESCRIPTION:Vicky and Sarah will be sharing the evening\, playing and harmonizing on each other’s tunes.  Sounds like fun\, no? \nVICKY EMERSON \n“The music on Vicky Emerson’s latest release Wake Me When the Wind Dies Down drips with folk\, traditional country and even a bit of blues and pop. Her music is rich with instrumentation such as lap steel\, fiddle\, guitar\, keys\, bass and drums. That being said the instrumentation supports her very attractive\, warm country style singing\, which is undeniably attractive.” Ted Rogen \n“Vicky Emerson has voice like a fallen angel that’s as pretty as it is strong\, and now she backs it up with growing lyrical depth and richly blue Americana arrangements on her third album\, “Wake Me When the Wind Dies Down.” The Minneapolis folk/twang tunesmith reunited with producer and guitarist Matt Patrick to craft another record with a rambling spirit but deeply rooted sense of place. Standout tracks include the violin-laced\, Rosanne Cash-echoing ballad “Save All My Cryin’ (for Sunday Afternoons)” and the bittersweet home-sweet-home ode “Silhouette.” Chris Riemenschneider \nIn the middle of June 2015\, Vicky stepped off the plane onto the tarmac and it was blue sky for as far as the eye could see\, big blue Montana sky. Putting two feet on the ground\, she took in the mountains in the distance and raised her face to the sun. Then the wind took her by surprise\, whirled her hair\, billowed her skirt\, and threw her completely off balance. For three days that fierce wind didn’t let up until she boarded her plane home to Minneapolis. \nIt was on this trip that Vicky recognized the parallel between that Montana wind and her own life. “I am a wife and mother to two small children\, and most days I feel swept away by the complete chaos and incredible love that they bring into my life. The physical feeling of the strong wind that chased me around all weekend was the first time I could make a tangible comparison to how I was feeling emotionally. I realized in Montana that letting myself succumb to the wind\, rather than resist and attempt to control every detail in my life\, could bring me some much needed peace.” \nThe story of balancing a family and career is by no means a new one\, but it is always an immense challenge for the person experiencing it for the first time. With her newfound perspective about letting it all go\, the songs came and they came fast.\nAlways influenced by the work of Lucinda Williams and Emmylou Harris\, Vicky also turned her ear to JD McPherson and Jason Isbell for inspiration. From there\, she brought her batch of songs to longtime friend\, collaborator\, and acclaimed producer\, Matt Patrick. Patrick produced her last two albums (Long Ride and Dust & Echoes) and readily signed on to produce a third. Enlisting the talents of Steve Goold (Sara Bareilles\, Ben Rector)\, Ian Allison (Jeremy Messersmith)\, Jake Armerding (Bela Fleck\, Nickel Creek)\, Aaron Fabbrini (Sarah Groves)\, Steve Bosmans (John Mark Nelson)\, the bedtracks were tracked in a live setting in three days and with Patrick’s vision\, an incredible Americana album was born. \nPatrick said\, “Wake Me When The Wind Dies Down is a highlight record for me with Vicky. Her classic sense of songwriting permeates this album\, but with a boost of vigor and feistiness. It charters both new and old waters of Americana music\, which haven’t yet been heard by Vicky Emerson fans. I believe this to be her best record to date and am honored and humbled to have been asked to be a part of it.” \nHer music has always been steeped in blues\, folk and traditional country\, blended in her Americana trademark sound. By letting it all go\, vocally and musically\, Vicky was able to tap into that spark and sass that fans love to see when she plays live. The album was funded by fans and friends through a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign and validates the loyal following spanning the globe that Emerson has cultivated over the last decade through touring and previous releases. \nEmerson said\, “Motherhood has made me brave. I simply don’t have the time for the crippling back and forth with my self doubt anymore. Now I go with my first instinct and stay as close as possible to my internal compass. Conversely motherhood has made me vulnerable. The love I have for my family has cracked my heart open wide\, overflowing with unconditional love. This intense love is always present in everything that I do. So\, the dichotomy between these two entities provided some very fertile ground for my songwriting.” \nEmerson was raised in rural Wisconsin\, has lived in New York City and San Francisco before relocating back to her roots in Minneapolis to raise her children. She has opened for songwriting luminaries such as Gregory Alan Isakov\, toured on a national basis and has mentored many songwriters on touring and career management. \nSARAH MORRIS \n“Sarah Morris is a triple threat. She can sing\, write\, and hold a crowd in rapt attention with her wit\, charm and soulful delivery. She has proved herself a force to be reckoned with!” – Nate Dungan\, Entertainment Buyer\, Minnesota State Fair \n“Rootsy singer Sarah Morris offers a Norah Jones-like approach to Americana/alt-country\, smoothing over its rough edges with a butter-velvety voice and an intimate songwriting style.” – Chris Riemenschneider\, Star Tribune \nPlease call to reserve.

SUMMARY:COREY MATHEW HART/ J. Hardin
DESCRIPTION:From the time COREY MATHEW HART started singing at a young age\, his voice has amazed audiences. “The human voice is such wonderfully complex instrument. So often\, words can fail to portray the whole meaning or idea you are trying to get across\, but in song you can convey more emotion and add more depth and dimension to the written word\,” says Hart. And he does just that with a voice that has helped him win Madison\, WI Songwriter of the Year in 2007 and garner comparisons to Jeff Buckley and Ray LaMontagne. In recent years\, Hart has continued to wow audiences across the country with his amazing vocal range and unique styling\, sharing the stage with Dawes\, The Duhks\, Shawn Mullins\, and Langhorne Slim. His performances possess a cathartic intensity that entrances audiences and draw them inside the music. \nIn his late teens\, Hart enrolled in the Berklee School of Music but quickly found himself restless and left after only a brief stay. Since leaving Berklee\, Hart has forged a trail that has wound and meandered from the Midwest through the Blue Ridge Mountains and back to the Great Lakes\, all the while building his unique sound. Drawing on his experiences\, Hart’s songs create pictures and tell stories that are vivid and soulful\, evocative and heart wrenching. \nThroughout this journey Hart found himself in the studio on a number of occasions\, resulting in two albums. His first EP\, Words Like Wildfire\, was recorded in 2007 at Smart Studios with Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie\, Sparklehorse). While in North Carolina in 2009\, Hart worked on a project with guitarist Danny Johnson\, recording Wooden Houses a full-length album. It was through these projects that Hart started to feel his way into his most recent record\, Winter Bones. \nRecorded in only two days at Smart Studios (Nirvana Nevermind\, Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream) and just weeks before the birth of his first child\, Hart’s latest Winter Bones EP is his finest collection of songs to date. Being one of the last sessions completed before Smart Studios closed its doors for good\, there was a great sense of reverence in the air as Hart cut most of the record live in one long session on Halloween day. There was a lot of energy in the room that day\, and the performances truly showcase Hart’s range as a vocalist. \nIt is the songwriting and performances on Winter Bones that earned Hart two MAMAs (Madison Area Music Association awards) in 2012\, one for best male vocalist and the other for best Folk/Americana album. Hart was also a 2012 WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) nominee for best male vocalist. \nOpener J. HARDIN grew up in the shadow of the Piasa Bird. Raised in a small Mississippi River town\, he eventually settled down in Wisconsin and released two albums\, an EP and an LP\, between 2005 and 2011 and extensively toured the U.S. under the name Everett Thomas. During this period his music appeared in numerous television spots\, and shared the stage with acts such as Gregory Alan Isakov\, Over The Rhine\, and Sarah Watkins. His new album\, The Piasa Bird\, will be released in August\, 2016. \nPlease call to reserve.  920-563-9391
