SUMMARY:TIM GRIMM
DESCRIPTION:Tim Grimm Singer-songwriter\, actor\, farmer\nTim has toured and recorded with his friend\, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott\, appeared with Harrison Ford in the film Clear and Present Danger\, and has shared the stage with writer and poet Wendell Berry. \nHis recording\, The Back Fields was named Best Americana Album in the 2006 Just Plain Folks Music Awards in Los Angeles (the largest and most diverse music awards in the world). Named 2000’s “BEST DISCOVERY in Roots/Americana Music” by The Chicago Sun-Times\, and “2004 MALE ARTIST of The Year” by the Freeform American Roots DJs\, his songs and performances have established him as a unique voice in Americana music. Each of his past 5 recordings have reached the top of the Folk or American-roots charts. Grimm walks the fine line between folk and country\, while maintaining a strong footing in tradition. We hear the rural rumblings that have shaped his life\, but we are also invited in to a bigger picture\, as evident in so much of his work. Critics searching for comparisons most often cite Johnny Cash\, Woody Guthrie and (Nebraska era) Bruce Springsteen. \nTim is an award-winning songwriter\, and actor on stage and screen. After several years working in Los Angeles (where he co-starred for 2 seasons on the NBC drama Reasonable Doubts and appeared in several films)\, Tim returned home to Indiana. He grew up in the woods and small town settings of southern Indiana\, son of schoolteachers and grandson of farmers\, and his return home was a conscious choice to live a life of significance rather than one of “success’. He now lives with his wife and sons on an 80 acre farm close to where he grew up. Tim’s songs are full of the rural rumblings that have shaped his life—rich with descriptive details\, and sung with warmth and intimacy—recognizing the inextinguishable national romance with the idea of the family farm and the vanishing landscape of rural America. \nIn 2007\, Grimm put together a concept cd with several of the Midwest’s finest songwriter’s— Krista Detor\, Carrie Newcomer\, Tom Roznowski\, and Michael White. The recording\, Wilderness Plots\, was drawn from the short stories of noted author\, Scott Russell Sanders\, and explored the settling of the American Wilderness in the Ohio River Valley Region between The Revolutionary War and The\nCivil War. Two PBS programs have explored Wilderness Plots– the first\, a documentary on the story and song\, and the second a full Wilderness Plots- In Concert (2012). Produced by WTIU in Bloomington\, IN\, both productions were nominated for EMMY AWARDS. \nAlso look for Tim in the upcoming feature film- At Any Price- starring Dennis Quaid and Zac Effron. Directed by Ramin Bahrani\, who Roger Ebert has named one of the top 10 directors of the decade ! A film about an enterprising farmer who plans cause problems within his family. Being touted at Cannes and Venice Film Festivals (2012)

SUMMARY:JIM & VIVIAN CRAIG with FRED CAMPEAU & MITCH THOMAS
DESCRIPTION:Mitch Thomas and Fred Campeau and Jim and Vivian Craig have put together an ukeclectic show that promises to bring a smile\, and maybe a tear or two. \nIn addition to their tight vocal blending\, the foursome stretch out with some instrumental surprises: Viv and Mitch on ukuleles\, Fred on guitar\, banjo\, and Hawaiian resonator guitar\, and Jim on concertina\, guitar\, and bass ukulele (yes\, you read that right). There’ll be old songs\, blue songs\, and some new songs\, written by Jim and Viv. \nFred Campeau and Mitch Thomas have been a team since the early 70’s\, when they met while both were performing around Chicago. Fred plays guitar\, banjo\, fiddle and harmonica\, and was a long-time member of the Volo Bogtrotters. In addition to playing guitar\, banjo and ukulele\, Mitch teaches choir\, theater and uke\, and is a two-time winner of the Wheatland Festival Folksinging Contest. \nJim and Vivian Craig have been harmonizing for almost forty years. When not loosely affiliated with Mitch and Fred\, Jim and Viv perform with Chicago-based Na Mele Aloha\, an Hawaiian music ensemble. \nAny of you who used to frequent the Green Dragon would have fond memories of them all.

SUMMARY:VOICES UNITED FOR SEPARATION OF CHURCH & STATE CONCERT featuring SETH GLIER
DESCRIPTION:Seth Glier \nMPress recording artist Seth Glier will grab you…if not with his powerful falsetto or his melodic prowess\, then with what Performer Magazine calls his “intoxicating groove.” The 22-year-old singer\, pianist and guitarist – who abandoned studies at The Berklee College of Music after one year because he “decided I should be playing for people and not for grades” – aims straight for the gut & has quickly established himself on the national scene performing over 250 shows a year. \n“If Seth isn’t destined for huge super stardom then no one is” – Livingston Taylor \n“‘Lauralee\,’ an anthem about lost love which channels both Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen\, is a tune with real pop hit potential\, It’s the kind of song you’ll be playing over and over on your iPod.” – Jack Goodstein\, Blogcritics \n“Seth’s voice and piano chops have such vivacity…he has an incredible ability to construct arresting melodies” – Culture Mob \n“…breathtakingly beautiful\, immersed in fragile introspection and an intimacy that penetrates every niche and nuance.” – M Music & Musicians Magazine \nThis event is being held in conjunction with events all across the country under the VOICES UNITED banner. (Due to scheduling issues\, the one here is being held a few days earlier on September 26.) Singer/songwriter Catie Curtis and record producer/musician John Jennings are producing these events. \nSince the founding of America\, singers\, songwriters and performers have been a powerful force for social justice. On September 28 – October 1\, 2012\, Americans United for Separation of Church and State is sponsoring Voices United for Separation of Church and State\, a nationwide weekend of musical events to celebrate – and defend – the vital principle of church-state separation. Entertainers in all 50 states will participate in house concerts and shows at larger venues to bring people together on behalf of our First Amendment freedoms. The below is from their website. \nAmericans United for Separation of Church and State (www.au.org) is a 65-year-old organization that is the leading defender of the Constitution’s guarantee that America will remain a democracy and not become a theocracy run according to anybody’s religious agenda. Our current efforts include: \n Challenging attempts to define marriage and family based on narrow theology\n Supporting the provision of contraception to all women\n Preventing religious leaders from electioneering from the pulpit\n Insisting that candidates and elected officials support the public good\, not a narrow religious agenda\n Defending a strong public school system that welcomes all children\n Opposing the use of taxpayer dollars to subsidize discriminatory religious schools and “faith-based” ministries \nThe goal is to raise the visibility of church-state separation and rally Americans to stand in support of this threatened constitutional principle. This production will also help raise funds for Americans United\, a uniquely valuable and effective organization. It is essential for AU to keep doing what it does best: represent in court persons who are targets of religious oppression by government officials\, stand up for individual freedom in Congress and the state legislatures and speak out in the media and other public forums.

SUMMARY:THE PINES
DESCRIPTION:Founded by Iowa natives David Huckfelt and Benson Ramsey\, indie-roots band The Pines surprisingly actually met in Arizona\, where they both lived in a Mexican barrio and first began playing together. Forming The Pines\, they returned to the Midwest\, moving to Minneapolis\, a city that has launched many folk and rock acts from Bob Dylan to The Replacements to The Jayhawks. Like these Twin Cities legends\, The Pines weave together many musical styles to create their own unique sound that is hip and haunting. The son of Greg Brown’s producer and sideman Bo Ramsey\, Benson was reared on folk and blues music and those influences continue to shine through\, even on louder electric songs. David shares Benson’s deep love for traditional music\, and together the two craft songs that evoke the ancient\, while incorporating newer rock and pop grooves. Both strong writers\, singers and instrumentalists\, David and Benson have distinct voices that complement each other\, causing audiences and critics alike to tout them as a powerful young force in American roots music. \nQUOTES \n“simply and eloquently stated sonic poetry…the real deal.” Acoustic Guitar \n“richly resonant indie-folk in the vein of Bon Iver\, Calexico and Mason Jennings” The Onion A.V. Club \n“a hushed mix of acoustic and electric guitars and keyboards creates a kind of haunted landscape…an affecting portrait capturing an American journey” All Music \n“a soundtrack of American gothic intensity…a stunner of an album.” Vintage Guitar \n“a dusty and often ghostly take on Americana” CBS Minnesota \n“quietly gripping” Rolling Stone \n“starkly poetic\, buzzed-about Americana” Minneapolis Star Tribune

SUMMARY:TRET FURE
DESCRIPTION:Tret Fure‘s career spans 4 decades. She began her professional work at the age of 16\, singing in coffeehouses and campuses in the Midwest\, moving to Berkeley where\, after performing weekly on the campus of UC Berkeley where she attended college\, she discovered that music really was her life. At 19\, she moved to LA to pursue a songwriting and musical career. Within a year she was performing as guitarist and vocalist for Spencer Davis\, touring with him and penning the single for his album “Mousetrap”. She went on to record her own album in 1973 on MCA/UNI Records\, with the late Lowell George of Little Feat as her producer. With the success of that release\, she opened for such bands as Yes\, Poco\, and the J Geils Band. \nWhile recording her second album\, Tret became interested in sound engineering\, learning the trade and becoming one of the first women engineers in LA. Over the course of her career she has engineered and produced countless recordings by a variety of artists\, including her own work and that of Cris Williamson. In the early 80s\, Tret left the mainstream music industry. Armed with a fierce desire to retain full artistic control\, she began exploring the independent side of the industry and soon discovered the blossoming genre known as Women’s Music. She has been a major player in that field ever since\, recording with and producing some of the best of women’s music including the legendary “Meg and Cris at Carnegie Hall”. She worked as a duo with Cris Williamson throughout the 90s releasing 3 CDs together during those years. \nNow after 5 acoustic releases on her own label\, Tomboy girl Records\, she has re-established herself in the folk world winning the 2004 South Florida Folk Festival Singer/Songwriter Competition in 2 out of 3 categories. 2004 also brought her recognition with the prestigious Jane Schliessman Award for Outstanding Contributions to Women’s Music. And in 2009\, she received the Janine C Rae Award for her work in Women’s Music. 2009 also found her voted “Pride In The Arts Favorite Female/Lesbian Musician”;br>\nFure also markets her own line of clothing named after her popular song\, “Tomboy gir”. In addition\, while not on the road\, Tret teaches guitar and songwriting individually and in workshop settings. An accomplished cook\, Fure has also published a cookbook\, Tret’s Kitchen\, featuring her own recipes. Along with bridging the marketing\, production\, and music worlds\, Tret serves as President of Local 1000\, The Traveling Musicians Association–a union geared toward helping traveling musicians find security and longevity. She also co-chairs The New Harvest Foundation\, a foundation that channels charitable contributions exclusively to organizations working to promote LGBT rights\, services\, culture and community development. \n“Women’s music legend Tret Fure continues to turn out marvelous albums\, her latest being “True Compass” (Tomboy Girl). Who else could have written a love song such as “Look What Love Has Given Me”? It’s a song that is at once personal and universal in its affectionate expression of happiness. Fure keeps it coming in the jazzy flourishes of the title track\, the acoustic twang of “Six Beers\,” the heartache of “32 Years\,” the political voice of “Try” and the rhythmic “Leap of Faith.”” \n– Gregg Shapiro\, Chicago Free Press\, Oct 24\, 2007 Vol. 9\, No. 9

SUMMARY:CLAUDE BOURBON
DESCRIPTION:Claude Bourbon medieval and Spanish blues \n“A breathtaking acoustic fusion of blues\, jazz\, folk\, classical and Spanish guitar from a stunning guitar virtuoso…” \nA multitude of people from the United Kingdom and across Europe love following Claude Bourbon. Hitting over 100 venues per year\, Claude gives many people the chance to enjoy his musical prowess. What brings the majority of his audience back to see show after show is his amazing performance. Claude Bourbon’s style of playing guitar creates a unique sound experience recognized only as Claude. \nClaude performs solo on stage with his guitars by his side. Matched with his voice\, Bourbon captures the full attention of his audience as they take in every note played off the tips of his fingers. \nClaude’s musical roots are blues\, however\, his music has and will continue to evolve over the years. Bourbon gets his musical inspiration from around the world including Spanish Middle Eastern\, Russia and Europe. Claude Bourbon takes the different sounds heard from different regions and molds them into the songs and melodies you hear at his shows. His songs may be blues-sounding\, ballads\, rock\, jazz or even unique and unclassifiable. \nClaude Bourbon’s 5th CD is an amazing credit to the music he creates. One of the great things about his albums is the growth and change represented. You may pick up one of his albums and be surprised at the different sounds found within. This is one of the great characteristics of Claude Bourbon – taking his music and adapting to his mood and unexplored territories. \nMORE ABOUT CLAUDE\nBorn in France in the early 60’s\, Claude Bourbon grew up in Switzerland\, where he was classically trained for many years. This finger picking guitarist has performed and studied all over the world; he has crafted an unbelievable fusion of classical and jazz\, with ethereal Eastern influences\, Spanish and Latin elements with strains of Western folk. \n The unique Monsieur Bourbon is a formidable performer. He may have his roots in the blues\, but he is inspired by music and song from all around the world\, taking these sounds and weaving them into a performance of blues\, rock\, jazz\, songs and melodies that defy a label\, all delivered with a gravely voice. \nClaude’s inimitable style incorporates all five digits on each hand dancing independently but in unison\, plucking\, picking and strumming at such speed and precision that his fingers often seem to melt into a blur. Thousands of people in the UK\, Europe and USA have enjoyed listening to this virtuoso and for the majority of his audience it is an experience that compels them to return again and again to hear and watch him play\, as his fingers lightly dance over the strings of his guitar and create a unique sound that is ’Claude’. \nNow based in the UK\, some of this guitarists’ influences allow us a fascinating insight into this remarkable musician; Paco De Lucia: Deep Purple’s Richie Blackmore; Joaquin Rodrigo; JJ Cale\, Monty Python; JS Bach and Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks…. \n“…This accomplished artist offers tender\, compelling performance through highly developed precision. His sound instantly creates ambience – from haunting Spanish moods to lyrical\, romantic jazz\, Claude Bourbon provides both a rich evening of music for lovers\, and a real treat for music lovers…”\, BBC\, UK \n“Do you know what Medieval guitar sounds like? I didn’t either ‘til I hooked up with Claude! This is some cool stuff\, and he’s French and everything!” Dolores River Brewery\, Dolores\, CO

SUMMARY:HARPETH RISING- CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:They plan to reschedule\, though\, probably in February. \nHarpeth Rising: billed as an “Americana Sensation” by WSM 650\, this group of young classically trained musicians is making an immense impact wherever they play. The quartet brings an exciting and distinctive sound to the Americana genre.” With a banjo and fiddle\, you might think they’re traditional bluegrass\, but think again: cello and hand drums round out the group\, creating a truly new sound. A little bit bluegrass\, a little bit folk\, a little bit classical and whole lot of original\, Harpeth Rising is a band to watch.

SUMMARY:RAYNA GELLERT/ Satchel Paige
DESCRIPTION:Rayna (of the “all g’Earl” stringband UNCLE EARL) has a new solo album coming out on Oct. 2 on StorySound Records (home to Loudon Wainwright III & Gabriel Kahane). The album\, Old Light: Songs from my Childhood & Other Gone Worlds\, is a mix of traditional and original songs\, and is a departure from her previous fiddle-centric recordings. She’ll be touring as a trio with a great electric guitarist (Drew Heller from Toubab Krewe) and drummer Jamie Dick (who has toured with Tommy & the Whale and Abigail Washburn). Friends of Satchel’s\, and come highly recommended. \nRayna Gellert grew up in a musical family\, and has spent most of her life immersed in the sounds of rural stringband music\, heartfelt gospel songs\, and old ballads. After honing her fiddle skills playing at jam sessions and square dances\, Rayna fell into a life of traveling and performing. Her fiddle albums are widely celebrated in the old-time music community\, and she has recorded with a host of musicians in a variety of styles – including Robyn Hitchcock\, Tyler Ramsey\, Sara Watkins\, Loudon Wainwright III\, John Paul Jones\, and Abigail Washburn. From 2003 through 2008\, Rayna was a member of the acclaimed stringband Uncle Earl\, with whom she released two albums on Rounder Records and toured like mad. These days she can be found on stage with Scott Miller\, Toubab Krewe\, or her father\, Dan Gellert. She lives in Swannanoa\, North Carolina. \nNote: This date had been posted for a few days as being on the 19th\, but was changed. \nSatchel Paige opens.

SUMMARY:LARRY PENN/ JOHN SIEGER/ MARK DVORAK
DESCRIPTION:These guys did such a great show and had such a great time that it was clear a repeat was in order. \nA whoppin’ night of great music with three great guys: \nLarry Penn sings and tells stories of hard work\, working people\, trains\, trucks\, life on the road\, love\, nonsense\, and flamingos. Noted for their elegance in simplicity\, his songs are not only popular with audiences\, but are acclaimed by other artists\, many of whom have recorded their own renditions of Larry’s songs.  He has had a long and stellar career\, but may not be performing much longer. \nHis performances are delightful. Please come out and help make this a special night for him. \nMark Dvorak    plays folk and blues on banjo and guitar – carrying on the tradition of stalwarts like the above-lauded Mr. Penn.   “Mark is a charismatic performer with a spark of gentle passion that lights every concert hall and every greenway where he lifts his voice in celebration of the old songs. He has been called “a folk singer’s folk singer who follows unerringly in the footsteps of Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie\,” and his song writing has been called “wondrous” and “profound.” \nLike Larry\,  John Sieger is another Milwaukee gem\, known as a prolific and talented songwriter.  He has been in numerous Milwaukee bands\, including the R&B Cadets\, Semi-Twang\, the SubContinentals. Roots rock\, country\, R&B- John runs the gamut.

SUMMARY:MICHAEL MCDERMOTT
DESCRIPTION:Michael McDermott makes his debut appearance at the Carpe with his wife\, Heather Horton. \nThe anthemic\, arena-filling “Scars From Another Life” (from his forthcoming album Hit Me Back) paints the a picture of how far singer-songwriter Michael McDermott has come: “I was so down… I had completely lost my way / When I hit Broadway I began to realize / That all they are are scars from another life.” His life since becoming a recording artist—full of myriad highest highs\, gutter-skimming lows\, and absolute rock bottoms of the past two decades—could read like a screenplay\, but with stories so ridiculously outlandish that they couldn’t possibly be true. \nAll of it—the addiction\, the failed relationships\, the financial dramas\, the career hurdles—have left plenty of scars\, but McDermott’s moving on\, moving up\, and taking charge. He makes no excuses for his past—it has made him who he is today—but sings to everyone listening (and to himself): “Don’t run away\, they’re scars from another life.”\nIt’s been quite a ride since singer/songwriter Michael McDermott unleashed his debut\, 620 West Surf\, but one might even go so far as to say that his 2012 release\, Hit Me Back\, represents the work of a new artist: for the first time in his recording career\, McDermott is a father\, a philanthropic entrepreneur\, and has experienced the loss of an adored parent. All are major life changes which have found achingly honest expression in his songs. \nHit Me Back also exudes McDermott’s trademark embrace of faith and hope in the face of adversity. The lyrics are\, as always\, uniquely evocative: McDermott sings in poetry; his tunes are literate story-songs. On the haunting “Ever After\,” he offers the listener palpable insight into the jarring confusion and doubt felt in the days that followed his mother’s passing (in October 2011). The wryly observed title track puts a new spin on fighting a long-time nemesis\, alcohol. His demon-banishing in the aforementioned “Scars From Another Life” is echoed in the love-is-redemption refrains of “Let It Go.” The exploration of temptation and bowing to its siren call is explored in the Americana-laced “A Deal With The Devil.” \nInfluenced by such musical giants as Bob Dylan and Van Morrison\, McDermott exhibited a talent for mature and lyrically dense songwriting that soon caught the eye—and ear—of then-talent scout Brian Koppelman (now a screenwriter\, novelist\, director\, and producer; best known as the co-writer of “Ocean’s Thirteen” and “Rounders”)\, who immediately signed him to Giant Records. That first album\, 620 West Surf\, boasted a Billboard Hot 100 charting single\, (“A Wall I Must Climb”). McDermott continued to write introspective\, character-driven songs that won him an enduring band of appreciative followers. In the liner notes for McDermott’s self-titled album\, bestselling author Stephen King wrote: “Michael McDermott is one of the best songwriters in the world and possibly the greatest undiscovered rock ‘n’ roll talent of the last 20 years.” \nThe recording industry shakeup that marked the mid-1990s left McDermott without a contract\, and awash in debt and self-doubt. “Throughout the years\, I had continued to feel like I was on a mission\, of sorts\, singing spiritual songs\,” he once said\, “but never really feeling good about the other elements of my life.” McDermott released five more albums in the next decade\, some with label distribution\, others independently. He also continued playing live shows\, and riding a personal rollercoaster of addiction\, recovery\, and sometimes-misplaced ambition. \nHaving at last become more comfortable in his own skin\, scarred but smarter\, McDermott has in recent years begun to make more life-affirming choices. He has launched his own coffee line\, with sales from each bag of his two signature blends providing meals for seven children. Understandably\, he’s found positive inspiration in his wife\, Heather Horton (whom he married during a tour stop in Italy in May 2009)\, and the birth of their daughter\, Rain (in July 2010). And he’s once again a signed artist\, this time with New Jersey label\, Rock Ridge Music\, who will be releasing his forthcoming album. McDermott and wife Horton (a gifted musician/vocalist)\, and producer CJ Eiriksson (engineered albums for U2 and Matchbox 20\, as well as McDermott’s 2007 album Noise From Words) spent a whirlwind eight days in the studio to record Hit Me Back. \nOf course\, recent positive inspiration doesn’t mean he’s forgotten his tumultuous past or that he no longer faces present struggles. For McDermott\, a performer and storyteller to the depths of his soul\, his connection with fans and his uncanny ability to communicate universal truths through his own personal experiences are helping fade the many of the scars that remain. The demons aren’t gone; he’s just found a place for them to dwell in peace. It is coming to terms with those demons and putting them in their place that continues to fuel his art ever further.

SUMMARY:MIKE DOWLING
DESCRIPTION:Mike Dowling– bottleneck blues\, vintage swing\, ragtime\, and more\, played with grace\, wit and dazzling dexterity \nMike doesn’t come through that often\, so don’t miss the opportunity to hear this world-class guitarist. \n“Dowling is one of the most relaxed and highly skilled acoustic guitar players of his generation that I have ever heard. Everything he performs appears natural and deceptively effortless\, and with a tone\, particularly when he plays slide guitar that is very much his own and that very few others can emulate. His vocals have an engaging edge and alongside his consummate guitar skills there was nothing to criticize. After a number of encores a member of the audience spontaneously stood up and gave a heartfelt thanks to Mike for such a wonderful evening.”\nOctober 2003 performance review\,\nBlues in Britain.

SUMMARY:THE JOKES
DESCRIPTION:Jeremy Pinc has gathered another group of musicians in a jocular fashion. \nThe Jokes are: Satchel Paige on bass\, Sam Arneson on drums\, Jeremy Pinc on vocals and guitar\, and Pat Stillman on lead guitar. Wildly pro gay rights\, the Jokes have had controversial concerts since Day One. They are banned in Colombia\, Sweden\, and the Czech Republic because of their explicit support for Japan. If you like musical sushi you’ll like the Jokes… raw… and that’s just the start! If you like tempura you’ll love the deep-fried but light texture of Pat Stillman’s modal riffs and tasty licks or the edamame-like beats of Sam’s drums. With Satch Paige as a certified samurai and Jeremy Pinc’s kabuki makeup you have a veritable death sentence for all the sino-phobes out there. \nThis is a record release party for the Jokes\, who recently went to Nashville to lay down some tunes not quite as off-the-wall as the above bio would lead you to believe. \nEarplugs recommended.

SUMMARY:JENN & BASHO
DESCRIPTION:Jenn and Basho \nJenn and Basho met in 2010 while contributing their talents to bands around Portland\, Oregon. Discovering common loves and tribulations propelled them to become an inseparable team both on and offstage. Rawling composes highly melodic songs from fascinating scraps of phrases and images\, singing them with an engaging yodel-edged alto. Parks sings harmony\, but his “voice” is heard in the form of the his distinctive string-playing\, which has a dusty\, mournful quality revealing classical\, mountain and bluegrass influences. For the last six months the couple has been touring the U.S. in support of their debut album “Take the Air.”

SUMMARY:THE WRONG OMAR
DESCRIPTION:Minneapolis based Singer/Songwriter Joey Shaheen aka “The Wrong Omar” continues his “Sled-Dawg-Slushy Tour” in support of his recent CD release “Shoot Up The Town”. Joey is on his 3rd tour of the U.S. and will be parking his green Toyota Prius in front of Cafe Carpe on Saturday November 17th for an evening of songs\, stories\, poems and Rock & Roll aphorisms\, accompanied by a cello/mandolin/string player and a percussionist. His catalog from 7 CDs includes a warm blend of roots/folk/rock with blues harp and a substantial amount of quirk. Like a clever cartoon\, the adult themes are subtly disguised providing a show for people of experience and children alike. Joey has appeared with the likes of RB Morris\, Daphne Willis\, Hamilton Loomis and Monroe Crossing. \nThis review from the Twin Cities Daily Planet is a good summary of what you will come away with: \n“…It’s beautiful with a strong\, pointed chorus that compels with engaging urgency….when it hits\, it’s dead-on\, brilliantly inspired….Excellent songwriting. Warm\, wry melodies over bright\, moody chords….” \nYou can listen online at reverbnation.com/thewrongomar
