DAVID COX and JIM OHLSCHMIDT  are two singer/songwriter guitar players who arrived at the same destination from opposite ends of the road.

Ohlschmidt began his professional career in 1977 with a solo acoustic instrumental guitar album called “Behind The Eye.” Ohlschmidt’s recent CDs include a collection of original songs and instrumentals called “Old Box, New Tunes” (2013) and “Satisfied” (2015), the fourth volume of Mississippi John Hurt songs Ohlschmidt recorded with special guest Stefan Grossman. Another release from 2013, “Lorenzo Menzerschmidt” features Ohlschmidt in the company of former Violent Femmes drummer Victor DeLorenzo and Velveetatones bassist Tony Menzer.

Cox’s latest CD from 2018, “As Ever, Guitar,” is his first collection of solo acoustic guitar instrumentals. His three previous CDs, including “A Map To Anywhere,” showcase his uncanny gift for witty songwriting that is fresh and quirky. Tom McCarthy of the Associated Press wrote of Cox “his songwriting and guitar chops capture and amaze me” and Steel Bridge Songfest founder Pat McDonald describes him as “Brilliant, and authentic.”

Together Cox and Ohlschmidt interweave their guitar skills and songs into a fun evening of pure musical satisfaction.
