It started as one of those ”yeah, we should like do a gig together sometime” conversations between local musicians of a certain vintage. Well, it actually happened…and it seems the boys have an evening or two of material…so there’s not much use in turning back now. The Thorns are Perry Baird (guitar, vocals), Jeff Mason (guitar, bass, vocals), Tom Cook (bass, banjo, mandolin, celtic bouzouki,mandocello, and vocals). The first and now former Rose, Erica Flyte, headed to Massachusetts recently. The newest Rose, Angela Martin Licari (Madpolecats), will join the fellows on either violin or fiddle (it will depend on which one she brings, and what gets spilled on it). They’ll wind their way through a mix of contemporary and traditional folk, pop, and blues tunes, plus a few novelties of highly suspect origin.
